Who is Teagan Lowe?

Teagan Lowe is a graduate of The Australian Ballet School; she successfully completed both the Junior Associate Program, and successfully completed full-time where she attained her Certificate III & Advanced Diploma in Dance. Upon graduation from The Australian Ballet School in 2004, Teagan was invited to join Australia’s leading contemporary dance company, Sydney Dance Company (SDC).

Throughout Teagan’s years with Sydney Dance Company she performed much of Graeme Murphy’s repertoire (both Nationally & Internationally) as a Principal Artist. Teagan’s position with SDC opened up wonderful opportunities for her to perform at International Galas, Festivals, The Australian Dance Awards, Greenroom Awards, Helpmann Awards, blockbuster Movies & also many TV Series.

Teagan was an Artist with The Australian Ballet Company from 2012-2014, which saw her performing a variety of classical & contemporary seasons. Teagan has also performed as a guest Principal Artist for the Tasmanian Classical Ballet Company, Liquid Skin Dance Company, Vertical Shadows Dance Company. Teagan has worked and collaborated with a number of choreographers worldwide, including Graeme Murphy, Stephen Petronio, Narelle Benjamin, Meryl Tankard, Rafael Bonachela, Julie Tamor, Shaun Parker, Stephen Agisilaou, Aszure Barton, Natalie Weir, Kate Champion, Reed Luplau, David McAllister & Stephen Baynes in a variety of contemporary, commercial & classical repertoire.

Teagan has also choreographed and performed on Dancing With The Stars, in the United States of America, and has choreographed, curated and performed in prestigious events such as the Sands Macao Fashion Week; Venetian Resort Macao.

Previous to her choreographic/directorship roles, Teagan was appointed Associate Artistic Director of a newly formed dance company (in conjunction with Graeme Murphy AO) - a role that delved into the other side of theatre, management & staging. This allowed Teagan to advance her knowledge in all areas of Arts Management.

In addition to her professional performance, choreographic & directorial career, Teagan is also a teacher, coach, examiner, adjudicator and professional mentor throughout Australia and America. The beginning of 2020 marked retirement from the stage for Teagan and from her role of Principal Dancer for Opera Australia. She did this in pursuit of her teaching and coaching commitments whilst she also completed her Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology).

A note from Teagan Lowe Coaching…

Given that my professional career has spanned over 18 years performing both nationally and internationally, I have extensive dance industry experience. My time spent as a principal artist with Australia’s leading contemporary company: Sydney Dance Company, The Australian Ballet Company & Opera Australia, has given me a broad scope of knowledge, with a real attention and focus on classical ballet technique as well as freedom of movement that comes from exploring contemporary dance.

During my career I have also had the opportunity to hold the role of Associate Artistic Director / Rehearsal Director for Mod Dance Company (under the guidance of Graeme Murphy AO and Brett Morgan OA). This has allowed me to develop leadership skills and perform administrative duties which led to liaison with many Arts industry professionals. I have also held the title of Dance Captain with Opera Australia and have nurtured small to extremely large scale productions from their conception and rehearsal period through to the maintenance of high performance levels. Additionally, I have coached classical and contemporary classes (at both part-time and full-time dance institutions), mentored, conducted workshops & adjudicated across Australia and the USA.

I am a long standing, passionate member of the Arts Industry. Throughout my career I have been committed to nurturing new talent, promoting excellence and supporting initiatives that create improved access to the Arts for all. Over an extensive career I have demonstrated my capacity to operate in an environment that is fast-paced and demands high-performance; I have been able to take on new roles with passion and vigour. While I do have extensive training in dance, I have had multiple opportunities to develop my organisational skills across all levels of theatre production. I value integrity, respect, excellence and teamwork. I embrace change and welcome new opportunities for personal growth and self-development.

I wish to always promote dance in a safe environment and take pride in supporting all upcoming and established artists by providing them with the skills required to excel in dance. I respect each dancer's performance quality and strongly nurture individual development in an honest and pure way.
